Featured in this lot we have a Winchester Model 1892 lever action rifle chambered in .44 WCF. This was the largest and most powerful chambering in the Browning designed 1892 and is the most sought-after caliber on the collector market today. The Model 1892 was one of Jonathan Browning’s best designs that incorporated all of the strength of the famed large caliber Model 1886 into a compact receiver intended for revolver length cartridges. Many frontiersmen and woodsmen relied on one size ammunition for both handgun and long gun needs. The Model 1892 replaced the relatively weak Model 1873 action and was intended to digest modern, smokeless powder ammunition. The rifle displays a 23 1/2" long round barrel, walnut stock, blue'd finish, working mechanics, and crescent butt plate. The action shows tight operation with tight springs. The rifle was manufactured in the first year of production with a serial number of 3916. The rifle shows good condition overall with some light wear and dark patina due to age. Serial Number: 3916. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
