Featured in this lot we have a Winchester Model 70 bolt action hunting rifle chambered in 7mm Rem Magnum. The Mod. 70 was largely based off of the Model 54, and was nicknamed "The Rifleman's Rifle". Additionally, the Mod.70 was coined as the "Bolt Action Rifle of the Century" by Shooting Times Magazine, in 1999. The Model 70 began production in 1936, with this example originating from 1974. This rifle displays a 24 3/4" long round barrel, checkered walnut stock, internal magazine, bolt action, leupold scope, and leather carry shoulder strap. The blue'd barrel is marked across the left side reading "WINCHESTER MODEL 70 - 7M/M REM. MAGNUM - MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL" with the receiver marked with "WINCHESTER". Mechanically the rifle shows a smooth bolt and good crisp trigger. The stock displays checkered patterning across the pistol grip and fore grip with a cheek rest and thick rubber butt plate. The rifle shows good overall condition with some light wear due to handling and use. The rifle weighs 9lbs 4oz. Serial Number: G1173723.
