Featured in this lot is a rare World War II German dress sword in a NCO Cavalry configuration. The sword is marked, "ACS" showing that it was made by Alexander Coppel Solingen Co. also known as Alcoso. Alcoso was a Jewish owned business in Germany who specialized in making shears, clippers, scissors and more, before and after World War II. During the wartime efforts, they specialized in making swords. The company's owners died in a concentration camp in 1942 along with other family members. The sword's blade is marked "A C" on either side of the scale logo with, "S" marked beneath it. This logo was primarily used between 1937-39, showing that this was a pre-war or wartime production sword. The sword shows a good to very good condition blade showing a bright finish and hallmarks. The grip is made of carved wood that is covered with black celluloid, which remains in good condition. The grip is wrapped with a skein of three twisted wires, the center strand being of a slightly thicker gauge. The scabbard/sheath shows wear with paint loss and some staining, but no dents present. The sword is in good condition for its age. The sword in the scabbard measures 37 1/4" L. The blade measures 31" L.
