In this lot are two wool, WWII United States officers hats from the Army and Marines. The first is brown with an Army insignia badge on it from WWII. The wool cap has a leather brim and strap. Inside the hat is a tin plastic shield to protect the top of the hat from sweat and hair product. The label inside the hat reads "Extra Quality Manufactured by Ayres & Smith London Ltd. W. Expressly for The United States Forces in European Operations". On this label in pen is written T. O. Thatcher. The hat does not have a size marking but measures 22" around the inside. This hat is in very good condition. The second hat is black wool with a black brim and black Marine insignia badge on the sides from WWII. The top shows a green colored wool piece that can be removed. Inside this hat is marked 7 1/8 (size). The band has some wear and the very top is disconnected leaving the cap looking more like a visor. It shows good condition overall despite not having a top. The brim is solid and unbent and the fabric shows good color and no moth damage. The first hat measures 11" L x 10 1/4" W x 4" H, while the second hat measures 9 5/8" L x 8 5/8" W x 3 1/4" H. They have a collective weight of 14 ounces.
