Offered in this lot is an Original Signed Oil Painting, "Coffee Pot Overlook" (Laguna Beach, California), by Xiangyuan Jie (20th Century), signature noted on bottom right corner. A Chinese painter, born in Hunan province, now living in Florida, Jie originally studied theatre set design and graduated from the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing with a BFA in that specialty, to which, in a way, he would later come full circle as a background artist for animated films such as Mulan, Tarzan Lilo and Stitch, and Brother Bear to name a few. He taught for several years at Hunan University and then traveled and lectured in Europe as a visiting scholar. He eventually settled in the U.S., taught at Auburn University as a visiting professor and later studied and taught at the College of Architecture at Georgia Tech. Jie is an accomplished plein air painter, painting in a wonderfully open and colorful style informed by the early work of Impressionist inspired painters from Europe, Russia and the US, including arguably the greatest figure in American Impressionism and among the best portrait artists of the late 19th and early 20th century, John Singer Sargent. Provenance on the bottom rear of frame states, Coffee Pot Overlook 14 x 11" Xiangyuan Jie. This oil painting is in very fine condition, wood stretched, no marring noted. The gold gilt hardwood frame is in good overall condition, no obvious damage noted. Visual art measures 10.5"W x 13.5"L, frame is 18"W x 21"L
