For your consideration is this 1954-1955 Zeiss Ikon Contaflex II made by Zeiss Ikon AG in Stuttgart, Germany and a three piece set of Vivitar 27mm close up threaded lens. This camera also comes with the original Zeiss Ikon Guide from July 1955. Zeiss Ikon unveiled the Contaflex I, a small SLR with a leaf shutter and a fixed lens, in 1953. The camera was constructed around the then-new Compur Reflex Shutter, which was the key design element and the first of its kind to be displayed. In 1954, the Contaflex II was released. The camera remained essentially the same, but it had an extra integrated selenium light meter. Although some models included a Pantar lens, Tessar lenses were mostly used in Contaflex cameras. By the late 1960s, Zeiss Ikon was unable to compete with the flood of lower-priced Japanese cameras from firms that appeared to be more innovative. Zeiss Ikon folded in 1972, and one of the greatest camera companies that the world had known passed into history. The camera uses 35mm film and takes a picture size of 24 x 36mm. The lens was made specifically for this camera and cannot be removed. The camera uses the Zeiss Tessar 45mm 1:2.8-22 lens and a threaded filter or lens size of 27mm. The shutter is a synchro-compur and the speeds are B, 1/2 to 1/500. The camera also features a removable lens protector and comes in a nice leather case that features a screw on the bottom to secure the camera into the case. The three lenses come in a small black leather case, are numbered 1 through 3 and are size 27mm. The camera and lenses show good condition overall with some slight wear from their age and use over the years, but no signs of obvious damage are noted. The camera measures 2 7/8" L x 5 1/4" W x 3 3/4" H. The lens case measures 1 3/16" L x 1 13/16" W x 1 13/16" H. The collective weight of the camera and lenses case is 1 pound and 12 ounces.
