Offered in this lot is an Old Pawn Zuni Needle & Snake Eye Point Turquoise Ring. A very unique and stunning ring with 14 Needle point Sleeping Beauty turquoise nuggets surrounding four Snake Eye turquoise stones. Zuni Petit and Needle point Jewelry began around 1920-1930 and was a unique form of Turquoise Jewelry created by the Zuni Indians. A Petit Point stone is a tiny round, oval, rectangle, pear or square shaped stone hand cut by a Zuni Indian Lapidarist. Needlepoint jewelry differs from petit point only in the shape of the stones. Instead of an oblong pear shape, needlepoint jewelry is made using turquoise in the shape of a long, slender piece resembling a needle. It’s a distinctive style that’s punctuated with only a sliver of stone against the metalwork of the piece. It requires careful stone slicing. Similar to petit point and needlepoint pieces, Snake Eye jewelry features a smattering of turquoise stones that are carefully arranged. Snake Eye jewelry refers to smooth, round stones that are carefully set into bezels. Snake Eye stones are often domed, adding dimension to the finished piece of jewelry, and a mesmerizing design thanks to their often geometric arrangement. Often, jewelry designs will use a combination of these cluster stone styles for an end result that’s a powerful piece made from many small parts. The stones stand out against a silver backdrop and can be used to create necklaces, rings, bracelets, and earrings. This stunning Zuni Needle Point & Snake Eye Point ring is in exception condition, stones are intact and not loose. No obvious marring noted. Total weight 5.6 gms. Ring size of 7.5 US.
