For your consideration is this Zuni Philander Gia Sterling Silver and Sleeping Beauty Needlepoint Turquoise Ring. This stunning ring features a wonderfully and professionally crafted sterling silver and silver bead construction along with Sleeping Beauty needlepoint stones and a centre petit point Sleeping Beauty stone. Philander Gia is a Zuni Native American silversmith known for creating high-quality jewelry, often featuring techniques like petit point (tiny, precisely shaped stones) and needlepoint (long, slender stones), frequently set with turquoise. He also creates detailed inlay work, such as intricate "rain dancer" or "longhair kachina" designs, and other traditional Zuni motifs like corn maidens. His pieces are sought after for their detailed craftsmanship and are often signed "Philander Gia" or "P Gia" with "Zuni". Petit point and cluster stone work originate from the Zuni people, though other tribes have also adopted the style. Petit point and needlepoint are two types of Zuni clusterwork and can be distinguished by the shape and size of the gemstones. Petit point refers to gems cut into round, oval, rectangle, pear, or square shapes, while needlepoint refers to gems that have been cut into a thin sliver or needle shape. The artist's hallmark is signed on the reverse. The condition of this sterling silver turquoise ring is good overall. Size is 6.5, measures 1"W x 1.5"L x .875"D, collective weight is 5 grams.
