For your consideration is this sterling & Sleeping Beauty needlepoint turquoise made by Zuni silversmith Philander Gia. Petit point and cluster stone work originate from the Zuni people, though other tribes have also adopted the style. Petit point and needlepoint are two types of Zuni clusterwork and can be distinguished by the shape and size of the gemstones. Petit point refers to gems cut into round, oval, rectangle, pear, or square shapes, while needlepoint refers to gems that have been cut into a thin sliver or needle shape. This bracelet features sleeping beauty needlepoint work on the middle and outside sections, with the middle needlepoint work surrounding a petite point sleeping beauty cabochon in the center. At the end of each needlepoint sits a sterling bead. It is adorned with sterling rope style bordering throughout the piece and seven circular pieces of sterling in the middle surrounding the petite point cabochon. The bottom of the bracelet is stamped with the makers mark reading, "Philander Gia Zuni". The bracelet is in a two stand style. Overall the bracelet shows good condition with no signs of damage or wear. The needlepoint measure 3/16" L and the center petite point measures 1/8" in diameter. The inside circumference of the bracelet measures approximately 6 3/8". The bracelet weighs 14.8 grams.
