The lot features an excellent early Zuni Native American Indian polychrome pottery effigy figure of an owl with two smaller owls and dating to circa early 1900’s. The ear;y 20th Century piece shows a handmade pottery construction with polychrome mineral pigment painted design in white, brown and red showing a feather and features design. The rotund figure shows a mother owl with two smaller baby owls on each protruding wing. The piece also shows a protruding beak and ears. The base is signed E. Pantah (Pantoh, Panton, or Pantan) and also shows the original Sundog Gallery tag stating it to be a Zuni Owl with a price of $700. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman which was both part museum and gallery. Measures 4.75” H x 7” W x 5” D.
