For your consideration is this beautiful bronze and silver inlaid Japanese Katana Tsuba circa 17th-18th Century. A Tsuba is a Japanese sword guard, typically elaborately decorated and made of steel or bronze. This tsuba features a wonderfully and professionally crafted bronze construction and is decorated with a squirrel foraging for grapes on one side, while the other side shows the squirrel standing underneath a tree eating grapes or leaves. Some vines, the squirrel and the grapes are silver inlay. No makers marks are present on the tsuba. The piece shows good condition overall with no signs of damage present. It measures a diameter of 3 1/8" and a thickness of 3/16". It is set in a small display case measuring 6 1/8" L x 5 3/16" W x 3/4" D. The tsuba weighs 167.8 grams.
