For your consideration is J. Audubon's Snowy Owl. This is one of the most desirable images from his monumental “Birds of America”. This is one of his very few nocturnal scenes, and certainly one of the most vibrant and charming full-page illustrations of his 435-plate series. This engraved printing was colored by R. Hawell (1827-1878). The art shown is 17" x 11" in a gold gilt frame that measures 20 1/2" x 17". The item has some damage to the paper on the back.
