The Chase of the Roebuck depicts a traditional hunting scene: a roebuck (small deer) runs ahead while packs of hounds and mounted hunters follow it across open terrain. The engraving depicts the active chase, with the animal in flight, riders on horseback charging ahead, and the dogs stretched out mid-run, emphasizing speed and eagerness.
