The lot features a wonderful circa 1870 Lakota Sioux beaded Indian buffalo hide tobacco pouch / pipe bag with rare tab design from a private Kansas City, Missouri collection. The bag exhibits Indian brain-tanned buffalo / bison hide that is expertly beaded on the front with a classic geometric design documented on other Northern Plains region pieces. The bag shows a beaded top flap and shows old glass trade beads in colors of chalk white, greasy light blue, semi-transparent red, cobalt and black. The bag shows beaded tabs framing the fringes and old frilly Indian hide fringes at the center with rich patina from age. Truly a stunning Northern Plains example with some tobacco staining, but overall a nice piece with good original patina. Provenance: From a large private collection of Native American beadwork in Kansas City, Missouri. Measures overall 17.5-inches long by 4.25-inches wide.
