This is a biography of Daniel Boone, a famous American frontiersman and explorer. From Boone's early years in Pennsylvania to his exploration and settlement of Kentucky, the book details his entire life. Boone is portrayed by Abbott as a fearless, resourceful pioneer who was crucial to the United Sates westward expansion. He discusses Boone's formative years as a hunter and trapper as well as his ultimate decision to travel west in search of uncharted territory for settlement. Boone's interactions with Native American tribes are also covered in the book, including his capture and adoption by the Shawnee tribe as well as his later work as a mediator and peacemaker between Native Americans and European settlers. Additionally, Abbott gives a thorough account of Boone's exploration of Kentucky and establishment of the town of Boonesborough.
