For your consideration in this lot is a two-sided folded map with Montana Territory on one side and Idaho and Wyoming on the other, circa pre-statehood, pre-1887. The maps made by Geo. F. Cram Engraver and Publisher Chicago Ill. George Franklin Cram (1842-1928) was an American map publisher and became a leading map firm in the United States. The best known atlas began as The Standard Atlas of the United States which eventually was renamed the Unrivaled Family Atlas which ran for dozens of editions over many decades. His was one of the first American firms to publish a world atlas. The Montana map is of pre-statehood, pre-1887, as it does not show Park County, which was formed on February 23, 1887. Montana transitioned from a territory to statehood in 1889. The Wyoming map is notable as it includes "Dakota" which was a territory prior to November 1889 when it was split into the states of North and South Dakota. The maps are in good overall condition, age tanning and very slight foxing observed. This folded map measures 10.75"W x 13.5"L, opened it measures 13.5"W x 21.5"L.
