Offered in this lot is "The Gospel of the Redman" by Ernest Thompson Seton and Julia M. Seton, 1939, Doubleday, Doran & Company, Inc New York publisher. Considered one of the most influential books on Indigenous spirituality. The author and compiler reveals how Indians once lived and what they believed in relation to spiritual principles. As we move further away from the time when Native Americans were living completely free and unencumbered in what was to become the United States, before the arrival of the colonists, it becomes increasingly difficult to preserve or remember the way of life that they had. Seton preserves all of the most important information in this book, gathered from the best sources at a time when it could still be accurately found. The orange cloth bound illustrated hardcover is in very nice condition. Intact pages exhibit age tanning and slight foxing. Painted top edge, deckled bottom and fore edge. Original paper dust jacket exhibits scuffing and some tears. Book measures 5.25"W x 7.75"L x .75"D.
