Featured in this lot is this 1888 copy of “Reminiscences of Abraham Lincoln” by distinguished men of his time, collected and edited by Allen Thorndike Rice, editor of the North American Review. Abraham Lincoln led the United States through its Civil War—its bloodiest war and its greatest moral, constitutional, and political crisis. In doing so, he preserved the Union, abolished slavery, strengthened the federal government, and modernized the economy. “Reminiscences of Abraham Lincoln” was compiled from a wonderful collection of first-hand accounts and memories of Abraham Lincoln, concerning his personal traits and private utterances, as gathered from the most distinguished characters of the era who personally knew him: Gen. Ulysses S. Grant, Gen. Benjamin F. Butler, Frederick Douglas, Benjamin Perley Poore, and Hon. Schuyler Colfax. This book beautifully captures the spirit of Lincoln and is wonderfully illustrated with 28 engravings. Additionally, this book provides complete biographical sketches of each individual contributor. The condition of this book is good, with some wear to the cover and the spine and slight browning to the pages consistent with the age of the book. The measurements of the book are 9 1/4" x 6 1/2".
