Charles Russell (1865-1926) is an American artist and writer who lived the majority of his life in Montana and is known as a prolific painter of western scenes of cowboys and Native American Indian lives and landscapes of the fantastic scenes of western United States. This paycheck from the city of Great Falls, Montana is signed by the city clerk, the mayor, and Charles Russell. The check is oblong ovtavo with payment promised as of April 2, 1895 and presented and registered May 9, 1896. It is rendered void, as seen by the cancellation punch just above the 'R' of Treasurer. The condition is good with a light, overall age-toning, giving this check a creamy hue and is in good, overall display condition. The measurements of this check are 4" x 8 1/2".
