This lot features an outstanding work of art, authentic #8, Turquoise inlaid, handmade Damascus knife by Navajo Native American master silversmith, Wilson Dawes. The piece shows a large drop point, bowie chef’s knife-like blade with amazing, forged Damascus blade showing a fine, random ladder pattern. The handle shows matched, Damascus bolster finger wells with sterling silver and brass bolster linings, having phenomenal, high-grade turquoise from the famed Number 8 Turquoise Mine of Eureka County, Nevada. Number Eight, also referred to as Number 8 or #8, Mine was first discovered in 1925 and first mined in 1929. It is considered the most collectible, rare, and high-quality turquoise by many in the world. All the turquoise on this knife has been confirmed to be authentic Number 8 Turquoise. The piece is from silversmith and artist, Wilson Dawes of the Navajo people. The turquoise is inlaid with silver linings in a unique stained glass or mosaic design, a truly wonderful work of art.
