Featured in this lot is this man Without A County by Edward E. Hale circa 1897. “The Man Without a Country” by Edward Everett Hale is a 19th-century short story that explores themes of patriotism, loyalty, and the meaning of national identity. First published in 1863 during the Civil War, the story follows Philip Nolan, a fictional army officer who angrily renounces the United States and is punished by being condemned to spend his life at sea, never hearing news of his country again. Through Nolan’s growing regret and isolation, Hale delivers a powerful moral lesson about the value of belonging and the consequences of taking one’s nation for granted. The condition of this book is well preserved with some slight wear tot he outside cloth cover due to age with browning to the pages consistent with the same but otherwise is in a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this 7 3/8" x 5 1/8". The collective weight of this book is 6oz.
