For your consideration in this lot we have a large 18th century French fireplace bellows with wooden stand. The bellows are made of wood and leather with cast iron hinges and tacks. The bellows show three primary wooden sections with leather going in between the wood and attached with large iron tacks making the air chamber. The nozzle and reinforcements along the piece as well as the old housing rod one each side are made of iron. The bellows show good craftsmanship and are unmarked. It is in good condition for its age with some wear on the metal and wood due to age and some holes in the leather. Overall a wonderful decorative piece with a lot of history. The bellows measures 39" long by 31" wide and 10 1/2" tall when not opened.
