Featured is a Rare Late 18th / Early 19th Century French Provincial Louis XV Carved Walnut Armoire. A fine example of 18th-century French craftsmanship and sophistication, ideal for collectors and interior enthusiasts seeking timeless elegance. Louis XV style is the epitome of French furniture at its finest. The eighteenth century is considered the Golden age of French furniture. It was during this time that the most refined and beautiful Royal furniture was made in the busy Paris workshops of Europe's elite cabinet makers. Rococo motifs are central to Louis XV furniture design. These include C-scrolls, S-scrolls, acanthus leaves, rocaille (shell-like) patterns, and pastoral scenes. These elements were used to create a sense of movement and natural beauty, often giving the furniture a light, almost whimsical appearance. The armoire features two wonderfully carved large swingout locking two-panel doors which open to a spacious storage area with three upper shelves, oversized iron hinges and large decorative openwork iron escutcheons. The lower drawer is nicely carved, iron pulls and openwork escutcheons. Serpentine carved apron flows into cabriole legs with claw feet. Recessed side panels feature serpentine carved aprons. Excellent quality with superb craftsmanship, the armoire is in wonderfully preserved condition. Measures 63"W x 94"H x 25"D, weight is 298 lb.
