Featured in this lot is this Eastern Anatolian Caucus tribal kilim, circa early 1900's. The region of Eastern Anatolia borders the Caucasian republics that recently gained independence from the now-defunct Soviet Union; it also abuts Iran, formerly known as Persia. The region has experienced Turkish, Kurdish, Azeri, Armenian, Russian, and Iranian influence, to a greater or lesser degree, some of which is evident in the designs and coloring of weavings made here. The rug shows intricate design with symmetrical geometric design and naturally dyed colors, such as dark green, light green, peach, orange, and dark blue. The condition of this rug is good, with some fading to the color of this kilim rug due to age and usage. The measurements of this Anatolian kilim are 72" x 43 1/2".
