For your consideration is this 1903 first edition copy of “A Daughter of the Sioux” by Gen. Charles King and published in 1903 by The Hobart Company. It was illustrated by Frederick Remington and Edwin Willard Deming. "A Daughter of the Sioux" is a classic tale of the Old West and the demise of the Indian. The book was written by Gen. Charles King, a United States soldier and a distinguished writer. He graduated from West Point in 1866 and served in the Army during the Indian Wars under George Crook. He was wounded in the arm, forcing his retirement from the regular army. During this time, he became acquainted with Buffalo Bill Cody. King would later write scripts for several of Cody's silent films. He wrote and edited over 60 books and novels. This piece has the name of a previous owner written on the first page after the front cover. The condition of this book is good, with wear to the cover of the book and browning to the pages consistent with its age. The measurements of this book are 7 1/2" x 5 1/4".
