This is an account of the lives of Buffalo Bill, also known as Colonel Wm. F. Cody, "Last of the Great Scouts", and Pawnee Bill, also known as Major Gordon W. Little, "White Chief of the Pawnees". A compilation of the adventures of these two frontiersmen, a biography of these Western legends featuring 29 illustrations and numerous drawings throughout. This book was the basis for the movie "Buffalo Bill" released in 1944, starring Joel McCrea and Maureen O'Hara. Author Winch, who was also the publicity agent for Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, is credited for providing the story. These were the showmen ... and the scouts, hunters, ranchers ... true entrepreneurs of an era gone by. Col. William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody and Maj. Gordon W. "Pawnee Bill" Lillie. Friends, cohorts, rivals, and more colourful than the era that spawned them. This book is in overall good condition, the blue cloth stamped illustrated hardcover features depictions of both Buffalo Bill and Pawnee Bill in the center medallion of the front cover, an Indian war shield is depicted on the upper left corner. The cover is in fair to good condition for being over one hundred years old, scuffing noted on edges, staining, light soiling noted. Intact pages exhibit age tanning and foxing, No other obvious marring is noted. The protective mylar book cover is intact. Measurements are 5.25"W x 7.5"L x 1"D, weight is 14oz.
