Featured in this lot is this 1913, Western Electric Company candlestick telephone & oak wall box. Western Electric was crucial to telephone advancement, developing high-vacuum tube amplification enabling the first transcontinental call in 1915 and pioneering models like the iconic "candlestick" phones and early dial phones, solidifying its role in expanding long-distance communication and shaping user-friendly, telephony for the Bell System. The candlestick telephone is marked reading, "Western Electric Company / Pat In USA 1, 14, 1913". The wall box is constructed from oak and has the original generator and components. It shows good condition overall with some wear present from its age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage is noted. A main wire has been cut inside the oak wall box. The box measures 9 5/8" L x 6 5/8" W x 6 3/4" H, while the candlestick telephone measures 5 1/4" L x 6 5/8" W x 12 1/4" H. They have a collective weight of 13 pounds and 14 ounces.
