Offered in this lot is is a collection of photographs of Yellowstone river and area from 1967 and one photograph of Canyon Hotel in Yellowstone National Park dated 1914 (printed from a YNPS slide collection). The first four photographs are dated 1967 and taken by Bill Whithorn. In 1948, the Whithorn's purchased a tourist court in Emigrant, a location in Montana's Paradise Valley just north of Yellowstone National Park in Park County. They operated the business for twenty-eight years. In 1976, the Whithorns took part in establishing the Park County Museum in Livingston, and Doris became its curator for fourteen years. In this set are two prints of "Emigrant Mountain and Backwater of the Yellowstone", a diffrent view of "Emigrant Mountain and the Yellowstone", and "Bridge Construction over Yellowstone River near Tower"(in Yellowstone National Park). These photographs are 11" x 14", the bridge construction photo is in a glossy print the others are a matte print. The photograph of "Canyon Hotel is attached to a board. On the edge of the board below the photograph is written Canyon Hotel 1914, however this photograph was printed from a slide belonging to The National Park Service and is dated 1911. The photograph measures 10 1/4" x 13 1/4" the board is 11 3/4" by 13 1/2". These photographs are all in good condition with very minor wear to edges.
