For your consideration is this Eskimo Inuit walrus tusk and soapstone utensil collection, circa 1914 and originally from Alaska. There are seven utensils in this collection, with five of them constructed from walrus tusk and two soapstone weights. There is a walrus tusk knife with a wonderful curved design, ideal for skinning fish or other game. The second item is a well-constructed fish hook with a long stem. The third item is an awl/needle for sewing and buck stitching pelts and hide. The forth item is a spoon made from walrus tusk ivory. The last utensil is a walrus tusk ivory gorget plate. The last two items are soapstone net or fishing weights of two different sizes and weights. The whole display is constructed from stained softwood and shows a glass sheet on the display. The condition of these tools is good, with no obvious signs of damage and an orange patina adorning the soapstone weights and some of the utensils. The measurements of these of these tools range from 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" to 8" x 2".
