"Red Men On The Bighorn Contains the Story of Swift Eagle Based on Crow Legends As Told by Plenty Crows (Red Neck) To His Son Alvin" covers the period when Native American Indians (Crow, Sioux) were being pushed to reservations in the Dakotas, Wyoming, and Montana; their children were being sent to boarding schools far from their tribal lands. For example, The Carlisle Indian School, Carlisle Barracks, Pa. where the Crow Agency sent Native children and specifically it is the story of the Indian John Frost who was sent there. It is also the story of the Crow Indians who worked with William A. Petzoldt, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Sheridan, Wyoming to build a school so their children could remain local. In 1903 Petzoldt and his family left Sheridan to build a church, parsonage and school at Lodge Grass. Contains 14 black and white photograph illustrations.
