Featured in this lot is this 1929 First Edition of "The Raven A Biography of Sam Houston" by Marquis James, Blue Ribbon Books, Inc. New York City, publisher. Samuel Houston (1793 – 1863) was an American general and statesman who played an important role in the Texas Revolution. He served as the first and third president of the Republic of Texas and was one of the first two individuals to represent Texas in the United States Senate. He also served as the sixth governor of Tennessee and the seventh governor of Texas, the only individual to be elected governor of two different states in the United States. Marquis James was an American journalist and author, twice awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his works. The red cloth bound hardcover exhibits scuffing and staining, spine loose at both joints. Intact deckled bottom and fore edge pages exhibit age tanning, foxing and top edge scuffing to rear pages. Measures 5.5"W x 8.25"L x 1.5"D.
