Available in this lot we have a Egyptian celluloid hieroglyphic beaded purse originating from the 1930's. In 1922 British archaeologist Howard Carter discovered of King Tutankhamun's tomb in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt. The wealth, beauty and artistry he uncovered astounded the world. Everything from fashion to architecture embraced this new and wonderful 3000 year old imagery. This excellent purse displays a hinged celluloid clasp with locking bar. The purse features two lines of hieroglyphics running across the center with a figure on either side of the pillars. The purse displays a variety of colored beads including green, black, silver, white, light blue, burnt red, and pink. The piece shows good condition overall with some light wear due to age and the clasp is missing a nail. The purse measures 7 1/2" tall by 7 1/2" wide.
