For your consideration is this original, unrestored 1930s 5 cent "U Select-It" Candy Vending Machine manufactured by Coan Manufacturing Company in Madison, Wisconsin. William Coan established The Coan Manufacturing Company in 1927, and it quickly rose to prominence as one of the nation's top vending machine manufacturers. The business manufactured a wide range of vending machines, including cigarette vending machines, candy and gum vending machines, and other coin-operated machines. One of their most well-known products, the U-Select-It Candy vending machine was renowned for its dependability and simplicity of operation. Depending on the operator's preferences, the machine could be arranged to dispense a variety of candies. The U-Select-It Candy vending machine was renowned for its solid design, dependable operation, and appealing appearance. The machine's bright colors and polished metal surfaces made it a striking addition to any setting, and the glass display case let customers see the available candy options. The company continued to produce vending machines until the 1960s, when it was sold to the Cavalier Corporation. The vending machine shows a cream white color on the metal construction with a piece of glass used to view the products. The top has a sign that reads, "U Select-It Reg. In U.S. Patent Office Automatic Vendors MFD. By Coan Manufacturing Co. Madison, Wis. U.S. Patent No. 1946078 - Patents Pending" in white lettering. On the middle right side of the vending machine it shows a red instructional sign on how to operate the machine and shows that the price is 5 cents. The bottom of the machine shows the skinny viewfinder where you select your candy of choice. Next to the viewfinder, it reads "You Select It Here" in white lettering with an arrow pointing towards the viewfinder. On the bottom right hand side of the machine is a knob to chose a selection and a lever to make the selection. The machine shows good condition overall with some wear, chipping paint, and some slight rusting throughout due to its vintage age and years of use. The machine has not been tested for functionality. The machine measures 10" L x 11" W x 48" H.
