Featured in this lot is this US Army officer cavalry dress sword circa 1902. This a ornate dress sword that features etched or tooled decoration to the side blades that shows a 'U.S.." marking and a name on the other end of 'Eldon R. Ziegler' and just underneath the hilt with 'The M.C. Lille & Co Columbus, OH.' The handle is constructed out of horn with finger wells carved into the front to provide a solid grip. and shows a basket style guard with four bars that curves to the pommel. The condition of this dress cavalry sword is good with some wear and oxidation adorning the sheath and some oxidation adorning the to of the tip of the sword but otherwise shows good overall condition. The measurements of this Army officer sword is 36 1/4" x 4 1/2" x 3".
