The lot features four original Winold Reiss (1886-1953) Blackfeet Montana artwork from the Great Northern Railway Empire Builder calendars from 1932 showing Arrow Top and Fish Wolf Robe Blackfeet Indian Braves; Blackfeet Big Face Chief and Morning Star Blackfeet Indian Maiden, all from Glacier National Park, Montana. Winold Reiss (1886-1953) was a German-born American artist, he immigrated to the United States in 1913 to follow his passion for Native Americans and by 1920 he went West to spend time on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in Montana outside of Glacier National Park, creating more than 250 artworks depicting the people of the Blackfeet. In 1931, and 1934-37, Reiss organized a summer art school, also referred to as an artists' colony near Glacier National Park. The lot features two original Winold Reiss Great Northern calendar topper artworks. These are full calendar and only feature the months of February, May, July and September, 1932. The artwork on these calendars are as follows: Big Face Chief, Fish Wolf Robe, Arrow Top and Morning Star. They each feature the Great Northern Railway logo and feature various slogans. Two are set on hard backs and shrink wrapped to preserve their conditions. They show good condition overall with little wear present and no signs of damage noted. They measure 22 1/8" L x 10" W and have a collective weight of 10 ounces.
