Included in this lot we have an A. E. Cleveland & Son advertising calendar featuring "Bruin's Surprise" by Philip Goodwin originating from 1934. Goodwin was an American painter and illustrator who is best known for his outdoor wildlife scenes. The calendar displays the image of a pair of hunters as a large grizzly stands up from behind a bush. The hunters are shown mid action as one aims a rifle and the second reaches for the camping axe. The print is signed in the bottom right hand corner reading "Philip Goodwin" with the center marked "Bruin's Surprise".The art is set into a black border with red geometric designs. The front is marked "A. E. Cleveland & Son - Purina Chow and Mill Feed 233 South Clinton Street Olean, N.Y. Phone 7688". The bottom of the piece shows the December tear off paper calendar. The piece shows good condition overall with some light wear across the piece. The calendar measures 14 1/2" wide by 14 3/4" tall with the art measuring 7 3/4" tall by 10 1/2" wide.
