Included in this lot is a 1935 First Edition of “Blackfeet Indians”. The illustrations within this book are by Winold Reiss and the story was written by Frank B Linderman. The book features 49 original coloured pictures by Winold Reiss, depicting Blackfeet Native Americans in traditional garb. The book was printed in 1935 on the 25th anniversary of the founding of Glacier National park. The book is marked as "Dedicated to the Blackfeet Heroic Indians of the Plains whose noble spirit will live as an inspiration to all who meet them with an open heart". Winold Reiss was known for painting more than 250 works depicting Native Americans and particularly paintings of the Blackfeet which were commissioned by the Great Northern Railway and then distributed widely as lithographed reproductions on Great Northern calendars. Montanan Frank Linderman is remembered for his books of Native American stories and also for his advocacy in support of the creation of the Rocky Boy Indian Reservation for the Chippewa and Cree of Montana. The red cloth bound hardcover is in nice condition with black and red lettering on white strips, loose spine at hinges. Intact pages are clean, exhibit age tanning. Original paper dust jacket in fair to good condition, scuffing and tears noted. The book measures 10.25"W x 12.25"L, weight is 1lb, 8oz.
