For your consideration is a First Edition of, "Blondie and Dagwood Adventure in Magic" by Chic Young, 1944, Whitman Publishing Company, Racine, Wisconsin. Printed during World War II on conservation paper. During WW II, paper was a critical material used by the war effort and as such restrictions on its usage forced publishers and printers to use lesser quality paper in bookmaking. The lower quality paper was acidic which caused pages to yellow then brown, stiffen and eventually brittle over decades, a process called "slow fire." This book is in amazingly well preserved condition as the pages are still supple though yellowed/brown. This book is an authorized edition and is the original story about the Bumstead family of the famous newspaper comics, radio series, and motion pictures, "Blondie." The book is not a collection of cartoons from the popular cartoon strip. It is an original story writen by Chic Young about the antics of America's favorite family with over two dozen cartoon illustrations included within. This is a fun book for young adults to introduce them to the wacky world of Dagwood Bumstead and his family. The original brown cloth bound textured hardcover is in amazingly good condition, extremely slight scuffing , slight loose spine. Intact pages with painted painted top, bottom and fore edge, age tanning and slight foxing throughout. Illustrated endpapers. Measures 5.25"W x 8"L x 1"D
