In this lot is a Will James first edition book. This book is a 1946 first printing by The World Publishing Company: Forum Books Edition. The book is "Flint Spears: Cowboy Rodeo Contestant". This book is about Flint Spears in his quest to be the best all-around cowboy on the rodeo circuit, from busting broncos in the very first rodeo on the range to roping steers in front of European royalty. Will James (June 6, 1892 - September 3, 1942) was a French-Canadian artist and writer of the American West. He is known for writing “Smoky the Cowhorse”, for which he won the 1927 Newbery Medal, as well as numerous "cowboy" stories for adults and children. His artwork, which predominantly involved cowboy and rodeo scenes, followed "in the tradition of Charles Russell", and much of it was used to illustrate his books. This book is full of illustrations by James. This books measures 8 1/4" X 5 3/4" X 1". This book is in good condition, with slight wear on the brown cloth cover. Their is foxing to the page paper.
