Featured in this lot are three sets of five C.M. Russell sketches and a four larger sketches prints dating from the 1970's from the Great Falls Montana Tribune. The sets of five sketches features set one of three, set two of three and set three of three. The first set in this collection is titled, "The Trail Blazers" collection and features "The Scout", "Wood Hawk", "The Trapper", "Buffalo Man" and "The Prospector". The second set is titled, "Taming the Frontier" and features "The Stage Driver", "The Bull Whacker", "The Stage Robber", "Halfbreed Trader" and "The Cowboy". The third and final set is titled, "The Western Indian" and features "Young Sioux Squaw", "Buffalo Hunter", "Northern Cree", "Red River Breed" and "Flathead Squaw and Papoose". Each reproduction sketch shows Russell's iconic "CMR" signature and buffalo skull calling sign. Each set comes in its respective envelope that would have been mailed to the buyer. The four reproduction sketches included are titled, "The Shell Game" and "The Last of His Race". Each features two copies, totaling to four. "The Shell Game" shows nine men and a dog standing around a wood box where a game is being played. A few of them are smoking cigars and one holds a large bull whip. Only two men appear to be playing the game while the rest watch in anticipation. The bottom reads, "The Shell Game" while the bottom left shows Russell's signature reading, "CM Russell". "The Last of His Race" shows a lone Native American man sitting on his knees looking at a buffalo skull as a woman rides by on her bike and watches. The bottom of the sketch reads, "The Last of His Race" while the bottom left shows Russell's signature reading, "CM Russell". The sketches show good condition overall with little to no wear present and no signs of obvious damage. The larger sketches measure 12 1/2" L x 15 1/4" W while the smaller ones housed in the envelopes measure 11" L x 8 1/2" W. They have a collective weight of 12 ounces.
