Featured in this lot we have a branding iron from the 1989 Montana centennial cattle drive. The Montana Centennial cattle drive was to celebrate Montana's 100th birthday. The cattle drive was a 60-mile trip from Roundup to Billings and had a total of around 2,400 riders guiding 2,800 head of cattle. The event was done to experience a little of the life and challenges of those who came before us. The branding iron is made of three separate irons fused together. The brand is in the form 89 above a half circle and was used to mark the cattle in the drive. The piece shows good condition with some slight rusting. The piece measures 16" long by 3 3/4" at its widest.
