This is beautiful, rare Chiricahua Apache tobacco bag with rare beaded ball drops dating to the late 19th-century with five-point stars, bird effigy and floral designs. The bag shows Indian tanned hide with beaded whimsical designs on both sides which are trade thread sewn. The piece is likely from Fort Sill, Oklahoma and is from the Chiricahua Apache. The top has an Indian tanned draw string with buffalo check trade clothe and faceted red seed bead border. The outside edge has a lattice design with iridescent seed beads adorned with rare ball drops with are covered in glass trade seed beads. The front and back has wonderful beadwork with colors of sky padre light blue, greasy yellow, an various faceted seed beads in iridescent cobalt, iridescent, and more. There are five-point stars, bird effigy, eight-point stars and floral designs. Two balls are loose included inside the bag. The inside is lined with a red and white / cream buffalo check design trade clothe. Measures overall not including the top draw string 12.5-inches by 8-inches wide. Draw string adds 8-inches.
