Featured in this lot is this 19th century Indian trade knife displayed in U.S. M6 trench knife sheath, circa 1943. The Indian trade knife features a trade blade with a coffin handle held together with brass tacks and a strong patina. The trench knife sheath features a straight blade cavity with steel clipped mouth and steel plates that hold the tip of the knife in place without penetration. The sheath reads: U.S. M6 Viner Bros 1943 'JCL'. This is an original sheath from WWII. This sheath and knife are in fair, preserved condition, with wear consistent with the age of the sheath; the knife shows the coffin handle fractured on one side and features patina consistent with a 19th century artifact. The measurements of this sheath are 13 1/8" x 2" x 1 5/8" and the trade knife measures 10 1/2" x 1" with a blade length of 6".
