This is a beautiful set of 19th-century Lakota Sioux beaded buffalo hide leggings. The set of men’s warrior leggings comprise of Indian tanned Great American Bison Buffalo hide with frilly fringes and two long beaded strips on the front. The original large tie straps are still attached. The beadwork shows chalk white, light padre blue, red white heart and cobalt showing a tipi triangular stepped designs, tab spotted design and Maltese cross pattern. The set shows a red ocher mineral pigment painted finish. The set is mostly well kept with little to no bead loss and mostly supple hides with some stiff spots. Provenance: From the ex-collection of Dale Harrison from Cincinnati, Ohio. Each measures 35-inches long by 12-inches wide without large tie strap.
