The lot features a 19th-century spontoon "Kite" pipe tomahawk with Montreal stamp from the Northern to Central Plains. The pipe shows a "Kite" shaped spontoon blade with tear drop eyelet / eye hole with tall bowl; stamped on the blade "MONTREAL". The Montreal stamp is identical to the stamp found on other Tomahawks such as the head sold by Centurion in January. The tomahawk is on a hardwood solid wood haft handle with file branding across most of the surface with the gripping area painted black and several bands of smaller brass and metal trade tacks. The tomahawk has a grey to dark coloring on the metal and the handle chocolate coloring. Provenance: From a 60+ year old private collection of early Native American antiques; the piece was represented as an 1800's Montreal traded piece. Measures overall 21-inches long and the head is 10 7/8-inches long by 2 5/8-inches wide by 1.75-inches deep.
