This is an interesting Indian hide beaded tomahawk drop with bifurcated end dating to the 19th Century from the Plains Indians. The piece exhibits Indian tanned hide with sinew sewn period correct 1800's glass trade petit seed beads beadwork in a linear geometric pattern showing colors of greasy blue, chalk white, semi-transparent rose and faceted metal. The drop has beadwork on both sides and around the outer edge with some loss which exposed the sinew strand ends. The drop connection area has a dark coloring with remnants of green having a slit cut down the center. The beadwork has an alternating pattern, meaning greasy blue background on one side and rose on the other. Provenance: From a private collection in the greater Milwaukee, Wisconsin area. Measures 7.25"L by 1 7/8"W.
