This is a beautiful set of fully beaded “burial” ceremonial child’s moccasins from the Sioux of the 19th-century. The set is comprised of Indian tanned hide with sinew and thread sewing showing period glass trade seed beads that cover the tops, sides, back and bottoms. These are sometimes referred to as “burial” or ceremonial moccasins and were not made to be walked in but rather for a special occasion such as a funeral. The tops shows a cross and crazy beaded band with the bottom having a triple banded almost railroad like design. Bead colors are cobalt, red white heart, greasy blue, light blue, greasy yellow, semi-transparent light green, chalk white and many others. Measures 6-inches long by 2.5-inches.
