The lot features a 19th Century Assiniboine Antelope Horn adornment with Indian tanned hide tie and dyed feather being sinew tied from the Sundog Bruce VanLandingham collection. The Assiniboine were known to use Antelope horns in adornment, war bonnets and headdresses. This examples has been carved and shows a pierced hole holding the thick Indian tanned hide tie. Likely an adornment, or part of a war bonnet headdress at one point. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and acquired by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman which was both part museum and gallery.
