The lot features a set of fantastic 19th Century hard sole beaded moccasins from the Cheyenne Native American Indians. The 1800’s set shows an Indian tanned Buffalo Bison hide with sinew sewn hard parfleche rawhide soles and a fantastic geometric beaded covered tops which are also sinew sewn. The beadwork is all period correct 19th Century glass trade seed beads in a typical Cheyenne geometric pattern showing a chalk white background with design in greasy light blue, cobalt, red, and greasy yellow. The set shows a fancy beaded border around the ankle and around the hide tongue and shows the original Indian hide ties on the front. The set shows very well-preserved condition with minimal bead loss, well kept supple hides and no major damages. One of the better Cheyenne sets we have offered for sale from the 19th Century.
