Featured in this lot is this Friedr Dick, Native American Indian trade knife, circa 19th century. The knife shows solid construction with a sharp edge and a marking of an arrow pictomark next to the hallmark “F. Dick” and a “Made in Germany” mark below. A trade knife, or “scalping knife,” was made for the North American fur trade with Native Americans. The condition of this knife is good, with a patina adorning the blade consistent with the age of the knife. The measurements of this Indian trade knife are 15" x 2" x 3/4".
